ROCK ISLAND/JOLIET – The Carthage men's track & field team competed Friday and Saturday at the Augustana Penultimate Qualifier and the University of St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite. The Firebrids had 10 birds compete in their respective events and saw three personal records drop. 
 


SPRINTS

Tre Mitchell III competed in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, clocking in times of 11.52 and 23.21.

In the 400 meter dash, Dylan Parker placed second with a personal record time of 48.02.

DISTANCE

Three Firebirds competed in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Micah Anderson led the Firebirds with a time of 9:42.42. Trevor Swanson clocked in a personal record of 10:10.14, and Andrew Schaer finished in 10:51.93.

Chase Upmann clocked in a time of 1:51.38 in the 800 meter run. 

In the 5,000 meter run, Harlan Matson finished in a time of 15:13.57 for a personal record. 

THROWS

Jacob Brost took the gold in the Javelin throw, collecting a mark of 56.44 meters. 

In the hammer throw, Lucas Leal placed second with a mark of 58.00 meters.

Tyler Rose placed fourth in the discus throw and fifth in the shot put with marks of 47.86 meters and 14.74m. 



Dylan Parker's second place finish in the 400 meters with a personal record time (48.02) places Parker second on the Carthage outdoor all-time performance list for the 400 meter dash. 



"Dylan continues to build on an outstanding sophomore season with an impressive 48.02 in the 400m," said Head Coach Josh Henry. "That time narrowly missed the school record and puts him firmly second in school history. I'm looking forward to one more meet before nationals to see what he and the rest of the guys can do with their late season taper and good competition."
