KENOSHA – The Carthage men's tennis team hosted the Carroll Pioneers at Smeds Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon. It was a special day for the Firebirds, as the team celebrated Senior Day by recognizing
Elios Briand,
Cooper Ferruzzi and
Myles Krzewinski. The Firebirds and the Pioneers battled each other hard as rain approached from the west. Just as the rain began to fall, the Firebirds secured the win over Carroll.

In doubles play, Briand and Krzewinski defeated David Eman and Daniel Ezcurra 6-2 in #1 doubles. Ferruzzi and Francisco Silveira earned a 6-3 win in #2 doubles over Adrian Gomez and Andrew Labelle. Cyriac Cayuela and Finn Morris finished off the doubles sweep with a #3 doubles win, defeating Jack McCaffery and Ryan Labelle 7-6 (7-5). The Firebirds took a 1-0 lead over the Pioneers.
In singles play, Ferruzzi defeated Mark Trinka in #6 singles 6-1, 6-0 to take a 2-0 lead on the team scoreboard. Cayuela earned his ninth straight win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over R. Labelle in #5 singles, boosting the Carthage lead to 3-0. The Pioneers found the scoreboard as Krzewinski fell to Ezcurra 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) in #1 singles, cutting the deficit to 3-1. As the rain began to fall on Smeds Tennis Center, Briand defeated A. Labelle 6-3, 6-2 in #3 singles to secure the 4-1 victory. The #2 singles match, which featured Silveira and Gomez, was abandoned due to weather at 7-5, 2-2. In #4 singles, Diego Silva and McCaffery abandoned the contest due to weather at 2-6, 6-1, (4-4).
