RACINE – The Carthage women's tennis team competed against the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons on Tuesday afternoon at the LifeSport Tennis Club. It was a strong outing for the Firebirds, as the team dominated in singles play to secure the win over the Falcons.

 

In singles play, Maddie Kearney got the Firebirds started with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout victory in #4 singles against Payton Steward. Greta Peterson used a pair of 6-1, 6-1 victories to get the #2 singles win over Ruth Dolde. Giovanna Mendes defeated Morgan Chyla in #3 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout win. Xingchen Liu earned a 6-0, 6-2 win in #1 singles over Peyton Morgan. Victoria Rizzo defeated Katelyn De Guzman 6-1, 6-2 in #6 singles, while Marie Weis defeated Abigail Schwartz 6-2, 6-4 in #5 singles. The Firebirds held a 6-0 lead at the conclusion of singles play.

In doubles play, Kearney and Weis defeated Chyla and Steward 6-2 in #2 doubles. Maddie Berglund and Rizzo fell in #3 doubles to De Guzman and Dolde 6-4. Mendes and Peterson fell to Morgan and Schwartz 6-4 in #1 doubles. The Firebirds finished the match with a 6-1 victory.
