BLOOMINGTON – The Carthage men's tennis team closed out the weekend road trip with a match against the Illinois Wesleyan Titans on Saturday morning. The Firebirds controlled the match from beginning to end, earning a shutout victory over the Titans.

 

In doubles play, Cooper Ferruzzi and Francisco Silveira defeated Thad Dillow and Ryan McCoy 6-2 in #2 doubles. Elios Briand and Myles Krzewinski earned a 6-2 victory in #1 doubles against Ian Turnbull and Benjamin Vigneri. Cyriac Cayuela and Finn Morris capped off the doubles sweep for the Firebirds with a 6-4 win over Griffin Hammond and Chase Tomecki in #3 doubles. The Firebirds took a 1-0 lead on the team scoreboard.

In singles play, Ferruzzi earned a #5 singles win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Hammond. Diego Silva defeated Dillow 6-2, 6-3 in #4 singles. Cayuela claimed the win in #3 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win over McCoy, securing the team victory for the Firebirds. Morris used a 6-2, 6-3 performance to best Tomecki in #6 singles. Briand earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Vigneri in #2 singles, while Krzewinski defeated Turnbull 4-6, 6-2, (10-8) in #1 singles. The Firebirds defeated the Titans 7-0.
