Women’s Golf Starts Spring Season at Klash in Kentucky

PERRY PARK — The Carthage College women's golf team kicked off the spring portion of their season at the Klash in Kentucky, finishing seventh overall with a two-day score of 692 (344+348).

Alina Brindza led the way for Carthage, tying for 18th place with a total score of 165, improving from an 83 in Round One to an 82 in Round Two. Brindza's steady play kept her among the top 20 competitors in the field.

Lexi Manteufel followed, tying for 28th place with a total of 172 (84+88). Despite facing challenges in Round Two, Manteufel remained consistent throughout the tournament.

Ro Longden finished tied for 31st, posting a score of 173 (87+86), showing a slight improvement between rounds.

Mae Norman maintained consistent play, tying for 43rd with a total of 184, carding identical rounds of 92 each day.

Lauren Howe placed 47th, finishing with a score of 190 (97+93), showing improvement in her final round.

Abigail Bocock rounded out the Carthage lineup, finishing 48th with a score of 192 (90+102), contributing valuable strokes for the Firebirds.

"It was a good start to the spring season," commented head coach Bill Buss. "I'm very proud of the team competing through some tough wet windy conditions. This will be one of the toughest fields we compete against this season and to go out on our first day in fifth position was a testament to the hard work they have been putting in this winter.

Alina Brindza led our team with 83-82. Her tournament experience really helped her gut out a top 20 finish."

Carthage heads to the French Lick Springs Tournament in Franklin, Ind.
