RACINE – The Carthage men's tennis team hosted the Lake Forest Foresters at the LifeSport Tennis Club on Saturday evening. The Firebirds cruised past the Foresters in doubles play, before using a commanding performance to earn the victory over the Foresters.

 

In doubles play, Elios Briand and Myles Krzewinski defeated Bernado Aguiar and George Ciuca 6-4. Cooper Ferruzzi and Francisco Silveira earned a hard-fought 7-6 (7-4) win over Felipe Moraes and Kyle Lassen. Cyriac Cayuela and Finn Morris earned a 6-0 shutout victory over Daniel Fotiev and Alec Nissen. The Firebirds led 1-0 after doubles play.

In singles play, the Firebirds extended the lead to 2-0 when Ferruzzi earned a #4 singles win over Anele Mayiga with a score of 6-1, 6-0. Diego Silva defeated Lassen 6-1, 6-2 in #3 singles to give Carthage a 3-0 lead. Silveira earned a win in #2 singles with a pair of 6-2 victories over Aguiar to secure the Carthage victory with a 4-0 lead on the team scoreboard. In #6 singles, Cayuela defeated Fotiev 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 to extend the Firebird lead to 5-0. Briand battled for a 6-1, 5-7, (10-1) win over Moraes in #3 singles. Krzewinski dropped a #1 singles match against Ciuca with a 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, (10-7) final score. The Firebirds finished with a 6-1 victory over the Foresters.


 
The no. 40 Firebirds (10-5) return to the LifeSport Athletic Club in Racine, Wis. on Saturday, Mar. 29 as Carthage opens conference play against North Central at 4:45 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
