Saint Mary's 5, Carthage 2
RACINE – The Carthage women's tennis team returned home for the first time in 2025 with a match against Saint Mary's (Ind.) at the LifeSport Tennis Club on Friday evening. After a slow start in doubles play, attempted to battle back but fell to Saint Mary's.
In doubles play, Sasha Manojlovic and Giovanna Mendes suffered a 6-1 to Alayna Campbell and Emma Kealy. Xingchen Liu and Maddie Kearney earned a 6-4 win over Shannon Dudy and Hannah Gerner. Niki Manojlovic and Greta Peterson were defeated by Lanie Brandt and Anna Gardner with a score of 6-3.
In singles play, Liu earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Kealy. S. Manojlovic dropped a 6-1, 6-4 match against Campbell. Mendes fell to Gardner 7-5, 6-2. Peterson dropped a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Dudy. Kearney defeated Gerner 6-1, 6-2. N. Manojlovic fell to Brant with a pair of 6-3 losses.
The Firebirds (7-5) return to action on Sunday, March 30 as Carthage hosts Lake Forest at the Life Sport Athletic Club in Racine, Wis. at 4:15 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
