ORLANDO – The Carthage women's tennis team concluded the 2025 Florida spring break trip with a pair of matches against Calvin and Minnesota State-Moorhead. After suffering a loss to Calvin, the Firebirds bounced back and earned a win over their NCAA Division II opponent MSU-Moorhead.

 

VS CALVIN

In doubles play, Sasha Manojlovic and Giovanna Mendes suffered a 6-2 loss to Catherine Grissom and Marina Ribeiro. Xingchen Liu and Maddie Kearney earned a 6-3 win over Ryan Morey and Julia Hook. Niki Manojlovic and Greta Peterson were defeated by Tessa Holman and Rachel Grissom with a score of 7-5.

In singles play, Liu earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Holman. S. Manojlovic dropped a pair of 6-2 losses to Ana Clara Pizaia Ornellas. Mendes fell to C. Grissom 6-3, 6-2. Peterson dropped a 6-0, 6-3 loss to Ribeiro. N. Manojlovic fell to Morey 7-5, 6-1.

VS MSU-MOORHEAD

In doubles play, S. Manojlovic and Mendes dropped a 6-2 battle against Luzmart Diaz Castillo. Liu and Kearney came away with a 6-4 win over Tiannah Giu and Sophia Felderman. N. Manojlovic and Peterson were defeated by Claire Nemmers and Katryna Hansen 6-4.

In singles play, Liu defeated Johnson 6-4, 6-3. S. Manojlovic earned a 6-1, 4-6, (10-7) win over Hansen. Mendes fell to Felderman 6-0, 6-1. Kearney was defeated by Giu with a pair of 6-1 losses. Marie Weis used a pair of 6-3 wins to defeat Lakia Manska. Larissa Ishikawa defeated Izabela Flores 6-0, 6-1.


 
The Firebirds (7-4) return to action on Friday, March 21 as Carthage hosts St. Mary's (Ind.) at the Life Sport Athletic Club in Racine, Wis. at 6:45 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
