KISSIMMEE – The Carthage men's tennis team continued their Florida trip with a pair of matches on Wednesday. The Firebirds opened the day with a morning match against nationally ranked Case Western Reserve and concluded the day against Piedmont. The Firebirds struggled against Case Western Reserve before rallying back to earn the victory over Piedmont.

 

VS NO. 5 CASE WESTERN RESERVE

In doubles play, Elios Briand and Myles Krzewinski were defeated by Trey Lambright and Justin Prochnow 6-1. Cooper Ferruzzi and Francisco Silveira fell to Casey Hishinuma and Derek Shiffer 6-3. Luca Okino and Diego Silva were bested by Santiago Salazar Garza and Ajay Mahenthiran with a 6-0 score.

In singles play, Silveira dropped a 6-2, 6-0 battle against George Kosseifi. Krzewinski suffered a pair of 6-1 losses to Mahenthiran. Cyriac Cayuela lost to Anmay Devaraj 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. Finn Morris fell to Matthew Plunkett 6-0, 6-1. Marco Czosnyka lost to Hishinuma 6-0, 6-2. Miles Whelan dropped a pair of 6-0 losses to Salazar Garza.

VS PIEDMONT

In doubles play, Briand and Silva defeated Simon Johnstone and Amirjon Latipov 6-4. Morris and Cayuela teamed up to earn a hard-fought win over Leyton Dunn and Horacio Rodriguez with a final score of 7-6 (7-5). Czosnyka and Daniel Jaworski dropped a 6-3 match to Yannick Wassmer Navarro and JC Foster.

In singles play, Krzewinski fell to Wassmer Navarro 7-6 (7-2), 6-0. Silveira defeated Charles Parnell 6-2, 6-1. Briand earned a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 victory over Bryce Van Order. Ferruzzi claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win over Mark Backeberg. Silva earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Connor Phelps. Cayuela defeated Rohan Kavali 6-1, 6-4.


 
The no. 40 Firebirds (7-5) will return to action on Friday, March 14 as the team takes on Calvin at 9 a.m. and Transylvania at 12:30 p.m. est.
