Carthage Athletics Announces Change in Leadership for Women's Wrestling

KENOSHA - Carthage College has announced a leadership transition within its women's wrestling program. Effective immediately, Jake Calhoun will no longer serve as head coach. The college will begin the search for new leadership to guide the program forward.

"We appreciate Jake's contributions to our women's wrestling program and thank him for his time at Carthage," said Ryan Kane, Director of Athletics. "As we look ahead, we remain committed to providing our student-athletes with the best possible experience, both in competition and personal development."

During Calhoun's tenure, the Firebirds had two student-athletes win the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week award and three All-CCIW selections. Natalie Majer also made the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championship (NCWWC) for four straight years.

Calhoun's team was also ranked nationally in the 2023-24 season collecting No. 22 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), a first for the program.

An interim coaching plan will be structured in the coming days as the college moves forward with identifying the next leader for the program. Carthage remains dedicated to the growth and success of its women's wrestling team and ensuring a strong foundation for the future.
