ORLANDO – The Carthage men's tennis team traveled to Florida for the 2025 spring break trip. The Firebirds were scheduled to open Monday against no. 16 Kenyon, but bad weather pushed the match to Tuesday morning. Later in the day, the Firebirds cruised to victory over the St. Scholastica Saints.

 

In doubles play, Elios Briand and Myles Krzewinski defeated Jonas Abeleda and Eamon Gerrard Stace 6-2. Cooper Ferruzzi and Francisco Silveira earned the 6-1 victory over Jack Onkka and Dane Patten. Cyriac Cayuela and Finn Morris defeated Reece Patten and Alex Daigneault 7-5. The Firebirds swept the Saints in doubles play and took a 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Silveira defeated Abeleda 6-0, 6-2 while Ferruzzi defeated Harper Dircks 6-4, 6-2. Cayuela earned a 6-3, 6-0 win over Andy Shaffer, while Diego Silva defeated Jose Naranjo 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). Morris defeated Drew Anderson 6-0, 6-1 and Miles Whelan completed the shutout victory over the Saints with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Timon Herrmann.


 
The no. 40 Firebirds (6-3) will return to action on Tuesday, March 11 as the team faces off against no. 16 Kenyon. Carthage men's tennis returns to the LifeSport Athletic Club in Racine, Wis. on Saturday, Mar. 22 to host Lake Forest at 6:45 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
