Women's Track and Field

Women’s Track & Field Competes at the Parkside Classic

KENOSHA – The Carthage women's track and field team traveled a few miles north of campus for the Parkside Classic hosted by Wis.- Parkside. The team had a strong showing across all event groups leading up to the conference championships next week.
 
Who Led the Way

Sprints

Christina Hall placed fourth in the 55 meter dash with a personal best time of 7.69. Ava Putnam and Nata Members also ran personal bests in the 55 meter dash with times of 7.99 and 8.01 respectively.

Mandy Nelson won the 400 meter with a time of 1:02.91. Martanah Ward placed fourth in the event with a personal best time of 1:07.46. 

Distance

Julie Heinrichs placed second in the 800 meter with a personal best time of 2:26.00. Kristin Farabaugh placed fifth with a time of 2:29.38.

Kaitlyn Jerbi ran a personal best time of 5:38.49 in the mile placing seventh. 

Kylie Florance placed fifth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:26.61.

Jumps

Julia Kraus placed fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.45 meters. 

Tara Schaalma placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 10.71 meters. Angelina Gersch and Jadynn Kramer placed fourth and eighth respectively with marks of 10.53 and 9.74 meters.

Throws

Mikayla Wright won the shot put with a throw of 11.96 meters. Jackie Tuzil finished third in the event with a mark of 11.80 meters. Lillian Townsend placed in the event with a mark of 11.40 meters. 

Nicole Tarpley won the weight throw with a mark of 17.86 meters. Tuzil finished third with a mark of 14.49 meters and Makensie Pearson was seventh with a mark of 13.95 meters. 


High Flyers

As the Firebirds look ahead to the CCIW Championships, several Firebirds are ranked in the top four in several events. 

In the long jump, Hall is ranked fourth with a mark of 5.60 meters.

Abbey Calhoun is ranked second with a mark of 12.04 meters in the triple jump.

Madison Payne is ranked first in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw with marks of 14.08 and 15.79 meters.

Tarpley threw a mark of 18.05 meters at the Midwest ELITE Invitational for a first place rank in the weight throw.

In the Pentathlon, Teagan Johnston is ranked fourth with 2670. 
 
Up Next

The Firebirds return to action on Friday, Feb. 28 as the team returns home to the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center as Carthage will host the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championships. For more information, vision athletics.carthage.edu.
