Firebirds Place Sixth at Squig Converse

WHITEWATER - The Carthage men's track & field team traveled to Whitewater, Wis. on Friday afternoon to compete in the 2025 Squig Converse. In a highly competitive meet, the Firebirds took another step forward with several season best performances.



The Firebirds placed sixth with 44 points. Wis-Whitewater won the meet with a total of 154 points. North Central (Ill.) placed second with 112 points, while Wis-La Crosse placed third with 87.5 points and Wis-Stevens Point finished fourth with 54 points. Augustana (Ill.) rounded out the top five with 47 points.



SPRINTS

Dylan Parker placed fifth in the 400m with a season best of 51.18 seconds.

Mac Anderson placed seventh in the 200m with a season best time of 22.80 seconds

DISTANCE 

Micah Anderson placed fourth in the mile with a season best time of 4:24.81.

Michael Herres placed fourth in the 800m with a season best time of 1:59.87.

Craig Hundley II placed fifth in the 3,000m with a time of 8:39.35.

JUMPS

Kedrick Johnson III placed fourth in the triple jump with a indoor personal best mark of 14.05m

THROWS

Lucas Leal won the weight throw with a mark of 18.06m. Tyler Rose placed fourth at 17.15m, while Jacob Brost placed fifth with a personal best throw of 17.03m.


 
  • Hundley's season debut 3,000m time of 8:39.35 is just five seconds off his personal best and six seconds off of the school record of 8:33.28, which is currently held by Dan Cotton.
  • Johnson's jump of 14.05m in the triple jump is the first time the junior has passed the 14-meter mark in an indoor competition. Johnson now ranks sixth on the Carthage all-time list in the event.



"I think we made some positive steps this week and overall competed much better," said Head Coach Josh Henry. "We still have a lot of work to do in order to get where we expect to be later in the season, but we had good week as a team and I'm looking forward to putting in more good work in preparation for next week's Tadd Metzger Invitational."
