One of the most impactful moments of the weekend came from the 400 medley relay, where the quartet of
Mikella Mesina,
Jill Kane,
Lois Klinger, and
Emily Belcik raced to an impressive second-place finish. Their collective effort helped establish significant early momentum and demonstrated Carthage's complete strength across all four strokes.
Distance standout Brie Skalski delivered one of the top individual women's results of the finals, finishing fourth in the 1650 freestyle, demonstrating endurance and pace control over the grueling mile. In the IM events,
Lyndsey Hackman added another high-value performance with a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM, holding her position in a highly competitive field and giving Carthage valuable A-final points.
Backstroke specialist Mesina returned to the top five with a fifth-place finish in the 200 backstroke, closing out her finals slate with another consistent performance. Belcik also contributed significantly, winning her heat in the 100 freestyle and finishing among the top performers overall—a crucial boost in one of the meet's deepest events.
With a strong blend of relay execution, individual versatility, and top-five consistency, the Firebirds women controlled the weekend from start to finish and walked away with a well-earned team victory.
