KENOSHA — Carthage College defensive back
Mariano Talamantez has been named the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Private College Freshman of the Year, the organization announced.
Talamantez, already selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin First-Year Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year, becomes the first in program history to earn the honor. The Racine, Wis., native also claimed a place on the All-CCIW Second Team Defense after finishing with 54 tackles and three interceptions. He delivered a season-best eleven tackles against North Central (Ill.) on September 20.
