Anderson, Kiser Earn First as Firebirds Kickoff Season at Muskie Scramble

PLYMOUTH — The Carthage College wrestling team participated in the Muskie Scramble on Saturday, showcasing several standout performances across various weight classes to kick off the 2025-26 season.

Leading the way for the Firebirds was London Kiser, who remained unbeaten in the 184-pound bracket, achieving three dominant victories. Kiser recorded two pins and a technical fall, including a 22-6 win against Sean Wilwert from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

At 157 pounds, Zaren Anderson also had an impressive performance, finishing the day with four convincing wins. Anderson secured two technical falls and a major decision against Peter Hollingshead from Luther, capping off his day with a 10-0 victory over Kyler Neuberger from Wisconsin-Platteville.

Maxwell Schmitt (165 pounds) began the day strongly with two early wins, pinning Mejed Jabri from Harper and earning a 16-7 major decision over Will Ohman from Lakeland, before losing closely contested matches later on.

In the upper weight classes, Elvis Muja (197 pounds) and Cooper Vincent (285 pounds) each secured multiple victories. Muja achieved decisions over his opponents from Lakeland, while Vincent recorded three pins, including against wrestlers from Lakeland and Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

At 174 pounds, CJ Gilbert notched a pair of dominant technical falls and a pin to highlight his bracket performance. Chris Kish (133 pounds) also contributed with two wins, including a major decision against Esteban Delgado from Harper.

Carthage received additional victories from Joey Barnett (157 pounds), Edgar Albino, Kayden Serrano (149 pounds), and Luca Burgio (125 pounds).

The Firebirds will face Aurora on the road on Thursday, November 13, at 7 p.m.
