Carthage Collects Four Victories in Home Test Against North Central (Ill.)

KENOSHA — The Carthage College men's wrestling team battled through a demanding College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin dual on Wednesday night, falling 34-14 to North Central (Ill.) at Tarble Arena.

The Cardinals opened the evening with momentum through the lower weights, but the Firebirds broke through at 157. Zaren Anderson delivered a commanding technical fall, rolling to an 18-3 victory in 4:31 seconds to put Carthage on the board.

The visitors answered with a fall at 165, but Carthage responded at 174. CJ Gilbert put together a composed performance, securing an 8-5 decision that steadied the Firebirds and kept them within reach. Carthage followed with another strong effort at 184, where London Kiser outlasted his opponent in a high-scoring 21-14 decision.

North Central (Ill.) regained control through the upper weights with a fall at 197 and a technical fall at heavyweight. The Cardinals added two more bonus-point wins at 125 and 141 before Carthage struck again. At 133, Chris Kish continued his consistent early-season form, working his way to a five-three decision.

North Central (Ill.) closed the dual with a fall at 149.

Carthage is back in action participating in the Concordia (Wis.) Open which starts on Saturday, November 22, at 9 a.m.
