North Central 6, Carthage 1
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Carthage women's tennis team traveled to North Central College for a midweek dual against the North Central Cardinals. It was a tough outing for the Firebirds, as the squad came up short in the road contest against the defending CCIW champions.

 

In doubles play, Xingchen Liu and Niki Manojlovic dropped a 6-3 decision to Kensington Payne and Abigail Penados in No. 1 doubles. In No. 2 doubles, Rya Arreazola and Greta Peterson earned a 6-3 win over Liveta Ezerskis and Kate Herlihy to even the doubles score at 1-1. The Cardinals claimed the doubles point as Sophiia Drozd and Eva Zaskowski defeated Jordan Miller and Bella Rizzo 7-6 (9-7) in No. 3 doubles. The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into singles play.

In singles play, Arreazola fell with a pair of 6-1 losses to Kensington in No. 2 singles to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead. North Central further extended the lead in No. 4 singles as Herliky defeated Manojlovic 6-3, 6-3 to take a 3-0 lead over the Firebirds. The Cardinals secured the win as Drozd defeated Rizzo in No. 6 singles 6-1, 2-6, 6-2. Liu fell in No. 1 singles, dropping a 6-4, 6-2 match against Penados. Peterson lost a 6-1, 6-3 decision against Ezerskis in No. 3 singles. Miller prevented the shutout, scoring the lone point for the Firebirds with a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) win in No. 5 singles against Zaskowski. 

The Cardinals defeated the Firebirds 6-1
