KENOSHA, Wis.. – The Carthage women's tennis team concluded the fall portion of the 2025-26 season with a dual against the Augustana Vikings at Smeds Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. After claiming the doubles point, the Firebirds battled their way to the team's fifth win of the season.

 

In doubles play, Xingchen Liu and Niki Manojlovic got things started for the Firebirds with a 6-1 win over Hannah Colbert and Colleen Larry in No. 1 doubles. The Vikings leveled the doubles score at 1-1 with Anna-Maria Huebel and Maripaz Ramirez defeating Rya Arreazola and Greta Peterson 6-1 in No. 2 doubles. Jordan Miller and Bella Rizzo secured the doubles point for the Firebirds in No. 3 doubles, defeating Natasha Gauerke and Maitreyi Shrikhande 6-4. The Firebirds took a 1-0 lead in the dual.

In singles play, Liu extended the Firebirds lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win in No. 1 singles against Colbert. The Vikings cut the deficit to 2-1 in No. 2 singles as Arreazola fell to Ramirez 6-1, 6-2. Miller used a pair of 6-2 wins over Maddy Harned in No. 5 singles to give the Firebirds a 3-1 lead and bring Carthage within a point of claiming the win. The Vikings once again cut into the deficit with Huebel earning a 6-2, 6-2 win over Peterson in No. 3 singles. Manojlovic clinched the victory for the Firebirds with a win in No. 4 singles, defeating Larry 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. The Vikings claimed the final point of the dual with Shrikhande defeating Rizzo 6-4, 4-6, (10-7)

The Firebirds defeated the Vikings 4-3.


 
The Firebirds (5-3) return to action on Feb. 21, 2026 as the Firebirds take on Saint Mary's (Ind.) at 1 p.m. EST. Carthage women's tennis returns home on Mar. 20 as the Firebirds host Concordia (Wis.) in Racine, Wis. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
