Firebirds Conclude Weekend at Midwest Region Classic

KANSASVILLE - The Carthage College women's golf squad competed at the Midwest Region Classic at Brighton Dale Links as the team shot a two-day score of 667 (342+325).

Lexi Manteufel led the way for Carthage, tying for second place overall with a total score of 151, including an impressive 76 in Round 1 and a 75 in Round 2. Her consistent play made her one of the top competitors in the tournament.

Ro Longden demonstrated resilience, finishing tied for 46th place with a score of 164. Longden improved significantly from an 87 in the first round to a 77 in the second. Abigail Bocock also showed progress, tying for 106th place with a final score of 177, reducing her score from 91 in Round 1 to 86 in Round 2.

McKenna Sosnowski maintained steady play, finishing tied for 100th place with a total of 175 (88 in Round 1 and 87 in Round 2). Mae Norman rounded out the team, tying for 127th place with a score of 184, showing a slight improvement from 93 to 91 between rounds.

The Carthage College B Team saw Lauren Howe tie for 82nd place with a consistent score of 171, shooting 86 in both rounds. Steda Lundak tied for 127th place, posting scores of 91 and 93, totaling 184. Mary Mikolajczak and Toni Powers both tied for 157th place, with Mikolajczak scoring a 194 (95 and 99), while Powers made an impressive leap from 101 in Round 1 to 93 in Round 2.

The C Team also showed commendable efforts, with Ciara Church tying for 82nd place after scoring 101 in Round 1. Madeline Midgett finished tied for 147th place with a total score of 190 (96 in Round 1 and 94 in Round 2), and Annika Erickson finished in 161st place, scoring 99 in Round 1 and 100 in Round 2.

Carthage will compete in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship with the first round starting October 3 at Metamora Fields Golf Club.
