WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Carthage men's tennis team competed in the second round of the CCIW Men's Tennis Tournament against the Augustana Vikings on Friday afternoon. The Firebirds made quick work of the Vikings, defeating the lower seed 5-0 to advance to the championship round.

 

In doubles play, Elios Briand and Myles Krzewinski defeated Arthur Hermange and David Larraga 8-6. Cooper Ferruzzi and Francisco Silveira earned an 8-5 victory over Aingeru Garcia Acebo and Gabriel Luna. Diego Silva and Luca Okino defeated Saman Rezaeyan and Nicholas Navarro 8-6.

In singles play, Briand earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Luna. Ferruzzi defeated Tim Philip 6-4, 6-2.


 
The Firebirds will return on Saturday, May 4 for the championship round of the CCIW Tournament, as they take on the top seeded North Central Cardinals at 10:45 a.m. in Waukesha, Wis. The Cardinals defeated no. 8 Elmhurst and no. 4 Wheaton to reach the championship match. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
