Firebirds Qualify for NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Four members of the Carthage women's track & field team have been selected to compete in the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships, the NCAA announced Friday.

Aubrey Schoeneman and Alyssa Gulsvig will represent the Firebirds in both discus and shot put. In discus, Gulsvig ranks 17th in the country at 46.24m, while Schoeneman ranks 20th at 45.66m. In shot put, Schoeneman currently holds the second farthest throw in Division III at 15.17m. Gulsvig is ranked 17th at 13.78m. Also competing in shot put is Mikayla Wright, who ranks 11th in the country at 14.16m. This will be the first trip to the Outdoor National Championships for Gulsvig and Wright and it will be Schoeneman's second trip to the event, as she competed in discus and shot put in the 2023 Championships.

Alexis Mattox will represent Carthage in the hammer throw for the third consecutive year, as she enters the event ranked seventh at 56.28m. At the 2023 Championships, Mattox finished 12th at 51.98m.

The Firebirds will begin competition at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, May 23 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
