KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage men's tennis team hosted Wheaton and Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) on Saturday at Smeds Tennis Center. The Firebirds were on cruise control, moving quickly past the Thunder and then earning the shutout victory over the Raiders.

 

VS WHEATON

In doubles play, Elios Briand and Myles Krzewinski earned the win over Jack Booker and Tim Steiner with an 8-3. Francisco Silveira and Cooper Ferruzzi defeated Jacob Williams 8-3. Luca Okino and Diego Silva earned an 8-7 (7-4) victory over Ethan Walther and Michael Walmer.

In singles play, Silveira defeated Booker 6-1, 6-2. Krzewinski defeated Steiner 6-2, 7-5. Briand fell to Joey Geisz 6-4, 2-6, (14-12). Silva earned the win over Walther with a pair of 6-4 victories. Ferruzzi defeated Yong Seok 6-2, 6-1. Okino fell to Walmer 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, (10-7).

VS MSOE

In doubles play, Briand and Krzewinski defeated Adrian Lopez and Clark Rue 8-1. Silveira and Ferruzzi earned an 8-5 win over Andres Mauricio Saavedra and Carlos Calabuig-Patino. Okino and Silva earned an 8-2 victory over Alex Nakasato and Diego Frerye.

In singles play, Krzewinski defeated Mauricio Saavedra 7-5, 6-3. Briand cruised past Calabuig-Patino with a 6-0, 6-2. Silva defeated Miguel Lopez 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, (10-5). Ferruzzi made quick work of Emilio Ulloa, winning 6-0, 6-1. Victor Pimenta defeated Clark Rue 7-6 (7-1). Cyriac Cayuela earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Frerye.


 
The Firebirds (16-4) will return on April 13 to take on Elmhurst at Smeds Tennis Center at 10 a.m. and Wis.-Stevens Point at 4 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
