Moser's Walk-off Seals Firebirds' Victory Against Thunder

KENOSHA, Wis.  — In a Friday afternoon showdown, the Carthage College baseball team went head-to-head with Wheaton (Ill.) in an intense 11-inning battle. The Firebirds secured victory in the first game of the weekend series with a dramatic walk-off homer from P.J. Moser.

How it Happened 
 
  • In the opening inning, the Firebirds swiftly secured a 2-0 lead with an RBI single from Zander Tubbs and a sac fly from Matt Felber.
  • The fourth inning witnessed a surge in Carthage's lead as AJ Gaca and Drew Knecht consecutively hit home runs, extending the margin to four runs.
  • Despite Wheaton's efforts with single runs in the sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth innings, the game was tied at four.
  • In the top of the 11th, after James Lindenmouth recorded two strikeouts and a flyout, P.J. Moser's homer to right field on a 1-0 count clinched a 5-4 victory for Carthage.
