ORLANDO, Fla. – The Carthage men's tennis team returned to action with a pair of matches against Wittenberg and Cornerstone. After cruising past Wittenberg in the opener, the Firebirds won a tight battle against Cornerstone to earn a big win and the midweek sweep.

 

VS WITTENBERG

In doubles play, Elios Briand and Myles Krzewinski defeated Ethan Libby and Kyle Fout 8-4. Francisco Silveira and Cooper Ferruzzi earned an 8-1 win over Mark Trinka and Henry Smith-Heston. Marco Czosnyka and Daniel Jaworski defeated Sven Van Den Eerenbeemt and Jacob Bennett 8-2.

In singles play, Victor Pimenta earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Libby. Cyriac Cayuela defeated Trinka 6-3, 6-2. Czosnyka came away victorious after a tight 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-2) battle with Fout. Luca Okino defeated Van Den Eerenbeemt 6-2, 6-0. Miles Whelan got the win over Bennett with a 6-4, 6-0 victory. Jaworski defeated Andrew Garofoli 6-2, 7-6 (8-6).

VS CORNERSTONE

In doubles play, Briand and Krzewinski defeated Santiago Castellanos and Luis Felipe Azurdy Castellanos 6-3. Silveira and Ferruzzi got the 6-3 win over Jose Oliva and Jaden Bender. Czosnyka and Jaworski fell to Daniel Alfaro and Joaquin Micheloni 6-1.

In singles play, Silveira fell to Castellanos 6-2, 6-4. Krzewinski defeated Azurdy Castellanos 6-0, 3-6, (10-6). Briand defeated Micheloni 6-4, 6-1. Ferruzzi fell to Alfaro 6-1, 6-3. Pimenta fell to Bender 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. Okina got the win over Oliva with a pair of 6-3 victories.
