Carthage 7, Concordia Wis. 2
RACINE, Wis. – The Carthage women's tennis team returned home to host the Concordia (Wis.) Falcons at LifeSport Athletic Club on Sunday afternoon. It was a strong day for the Firebirds, who earned a St. Patrick's Day victory over the visiting Falcons.

 

In doubles play, Xingchen Liu and Giovanna Mendes dropped an 8-2 decision with Ricki Budewitz and Ashley Samuta. Marie Weis and Sasha Manojlovic earned an 8-4 victory over Mallory Moen and Peyton Morgan. Maddie Kearney and Beatriz Ferreira defeated Mia Andrae and Mya Werning 8-2. The Firebirds closed out doubles play with a 2-1 lead.

In singles play, Liu defeated Budewitz 6-1, 6-3. Weis came up short against Samuta, falling 6-1, 6-3. Manojlovic finished victorious over Moen with a 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), (10-8) final. Mendes earned the win over Andrae 6-3, 6-4. Kearney defeated Morgan 6-3, 6-2, while Ferreira earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Werning.



 
The Firebirds (9-6) will return on March 24 to take on Lake Forest in Lake Forest, Ill. Carthage tennis returns home on April 6 to host MSOE. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
