NEW ORLEANS, LA. - Members of the Carthage men's and women's track and field teams were recognized for their success in the classroom by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the USTFCCCA announced Thursday.
The men's team, coached by Josh Henry, earned their sixth consecutive All-Academic Team recognition, finishing the season with a 3.21 GPA. The women's team, coached by Stephanie Domin, came away with their third consecutive recognition ending the year with a 3.51 GPA for the program.
The women's team also had several student-athletes earn All-Academic recognition for their individual efforts this season. Abbey Calhoun (Graphic Design), Alyssa Gulsvig (Physics), Hannah Lizano (Broadfield Social Studies Secondary Education), Alexis Mattox (Exercise Sports Science / Masters in Education - Sport Leadership), Aubrey Schoenman (Special and Elementary Education), and Nicole Tarpley (Special and Elementary Education) were all names to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
The all-academic team awards are given to any program achieving a combined cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher. For the individual honors, each student-athlete must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, while either being listed in the top 50 of their event on TFRRS, or a member of a top-30 relay team.
