Baseball Suffers Tough 5-4 Contest to Carroll

KENOSHA, Wis.  — The Carthage College baseball team fell to Carroll (Wis.) 5-4 Tuesday afternoon in a game that was originally scheduled for Sunday, April 30. 

The Basics
 
  • Final score: Carroll (Wis.) 5 - Carthage 4 
  • Location: Kenosha, Wisconsin - Augie Schmidt Field
  • Records: Carroll 16-18 (8-8 CCIW), Carthage 8-26 (3-15 CCIW)


How it Happened
  • Carroll (Wis.) plated three runs in the second to begin the game. 
  • Back-to-back RBI singles from Chuckie Smith and Evan Devine shrunk the margin to one.
  • In the third, a two-run home run from Joe Zuleger flipped the score to 4-3.
  • Later, Carroll plated a single run in the fifth, bringing the score even to four. 
  • The visitors took the lead in the top of the ninth, 5-4. 
  • Though Carthage had a runner on third in the bottom of the inning, Carroll (Wis.) got a strikeout to win the game.
