NEW ORLEANS - Carthage College men's track and field student-athlete
Joseph White has been named this year's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Field Athlete of the Year.
White, from Kenosha, Wis., won both the weight throw and shot put over the weekend at the NCAA Division III National Championship indoor meet throwing 21.41m and 18.47m, respectively. His winning throw was the second furthest throw in meet history. His winning shot put throw broke his own school record and moved him up to 13th on the Division III All-Time list. The two championships are Carthage's 24th national championships and the third for White, along with being named an All-American in both events.
White, named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Field Athlete of the Meet during the CCIW Championships, was a two-time all-conference selection and six-time CCIW Field Athlete of the Week award winner. White also collected USTFCCCA Men's National Player of the Week twice during the indoor season setting a new school and national record of 21.92m in the weight throw.
