BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Carthage women's tennis team closed out the weekend road trip with a dual against the Illinois Wesleyan Titans. The Firebirds were on cruise control, defeating the Titans 6-3 to earn the weekend sweep.

 
 
In singles competition, Maddie Kearney defeated Raji More 6-1, 6-2. Victoria Rizzo bested Carly Edwards with a pair of 6-1 victories. Beatriz Ferreira also used a pair of 6-1 wins to earn the victory over Andie Wilson. The Titans took three matches in singles play to even the score at 3-3.

In doubles play, the Firebirds swept the Titans. Sasha Manojlovic and Marie Weis defeated Amber Elrich and Olivia Bell 8-7 (7-3). Rizzo and Giovanna Mendes defeated More and Kate Christian 8-4, while Larissa Ishikawa and Luana da Silva defeated Edwards and Macy Michorczyk 8-2. 


 
The Firebirds return to action on Monday, Oct. 9 as they host North Park at Smeds Tennis Center. Action is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
