KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage women's tennis team hosted the Elmhurst Blue Jays at Smeds Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon. The Firebirds controlled the dual through most of the match and came away with a commanding win.

 
 
In doubles play, Sasha Manojlovic and Marie Weis teamed up and defeated the Blue Jays 8-2. Luana da Silva and Larissa Ishikawa earned a sweep with an 8-0 victory over their opponents. Beatriz Ferreira and Maddie Kearney earned the third doubles win by default.

In singles play, Giovanna Mendes earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Anna Sophia Stone. Kearney earned a point for the Firebirds with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Isabella Rahman. Victoria Rizzo defeated Silvia Barak 6-2, 6-4. Ferreira earned a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory over Megan Engstrom. Ishikawa earned the Firebirds final point by default. The Blue Jays earned one win in singles play to avoid the shut out.


 
The Firebirds return to action on Saturday, Oct. 14 as they host Augustana (IL) at Smeds Tennis Center. Action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. For more information, visit athletics.carthage.edu.
