Women’s Volleyball Picks Up Straight-Set Wins over River Falls and MSOE

KENOSHA, Wis. — The Carthage College women's volleyball team collected wins over Wisconsin-River Falls and MSOE on Saturday afternoon at Tarble Arena, handing Wisconsin-River Falls their first loss of the season. 

The Basics
Game One
  • Final score: Carthage 3, Wisconsin-River Falls 0
  • Location: Kenosha, Wisconsin - Tarble Arena
  • Records: Carthage 6-2, Wisconsin-River Falls 7-1
 
Game Two
  • Final score: Carthage 3, MSOE
  • Location: Kenosha, Wisconsin - Tarble Arena
  • Records: Carthage 7-2, MSOE 0-5
 
 
How it Happened 
  • It was all Carthage in set one of the day's opening game as Carthage held a 19-3 lead. 
  • The Firebirds won the set off a Falcons attack error 25-5. 
  • Katie Boston put the home team up two with a kill in the second. 
  • Wisconsin-River Falls rallied to take control of the set 13-12 with a block. 
  • Though the Falcons got it to five, a kill from Molly Skoda and an attack error won the set for Carthage 25-18. 
  • With the score locked at 17 in the third, Carthage went ahead by two with a kill from Kaitie Rohe
  • Wisconsin-River Falls made it a two-point deficit, but a kill from Ella Pettinger won it for the home team 25-22. 
 
 
 
  • Game two saw the Firebirds jump out to a 14-9 advantage with two kills from Kaitie Rohe and Katie Boston
  • The Raiders bounced back, flipping the score to 17-15 with a block. 
  • Following the score tied at 22, a Skoda kill, and an attack error put the home team ahead 24-22. 
  • Liv Carel closed the set with a kill for the 25-23 set win. 
  • A Pettinger kill made it a four-point margin in the second. 
  • Later in the set, two-straight attack errors by MSOE extended the Firebird lead to 20-17. 
  • Three unanswered points for Carthage won it 25-21. 
  • It was all Carthage in the third, going ahead 13-4 early. 
  • The home team went on to win 25-8 off two consecutive kills from Boston and Rohe. 
 
 
 

High Flyers
  • Tatum Kebisek tallied a match-high 17 assists against Wisconsin-River Falls, while Devinn Bell added 13. 
  • Bell also had three blocks along with Katie Boston in game one. 
  • Ella Pettinger recorded four blocks during game one, while Molly Skoda had 10 kills. 
  • Kebisek had 14 assists, followed closely by Devinn Bell with 13 in game two. 
  • The Firebird offense hit .333 against MSOE in the third set with 11 kills, and three errors off 24 total attacks.
