KENOSHA, Wis. — Men's tennis fell 5-3 this Saturday afternoon in a close contest with the #1 conference ranked North Central Cardinals in the final round of the 2022 Men's Tennis CCIW Championships at Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.

The visiting Cardinals (23-2, 7-0 CCIW) started the match off strong, landing courts two and three in doubles to begin the day. Court one would go to the Firebirds, as Daniel Moore and Yanozie Amadike battled out an 8-7 (2) win to send the match into singles.

Cooper Ferruzzi evened out the match 2-2 on court four with an even 6-1, 6-1 win to open singles. Court six would fall to North Central before Myles Krzewinski closed out a three-set win on court three 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 to again even the score at 3-3. The final two courts of the evening would go to the visiting team, as North Central rallied to claim the third sets on both remaining courts.

The Firebirds finish their season with a stellar record of 24-2 (6-1 conference) and .857 win percentage. Carthage holds a #10 Central Region ITA ranking, and was seeded second in conference heading into the tournament.

Senior Daniel Moore and Junior Yanozie Amadike were also ranked #10 in doubles by ITA, with an overall record of 27-6 on court one.
