Men’s Tennis Defeats Wheaton 5-2 to Advance to CCIW Finals Match

KENOSHA, Wis. — The #2 Carthage College men's tennis team defeated #3 Wheaton College 5-2 this Friday afternoon to advance to the final match against #1 North Central on Saturday. The Firebirds hold a 24-2 record on the season.

After an 8-5 loss on doubles court two to begin the match, #10 ITA Central Region duo Daniel Moore and Yanozie Amadike grabbed a tough 8-4 win on court one to even the match. Nick Marino and Myles Krzewinski battled out a heated 8-7 (7) win on court three to give the Firebirds a 2-1 advantage heading into singles.

Court five fell to the Thunder to open singles, before Myles Krzewinski won 7-6 (1), 6-4 on court three to put the match at 3-2. Nicolas Welker added a big 6-3, 7-5 win on court four, and Daniel Moore took court one 6-3, 7-5 to close out the match at 5-2 in favor of Carthage.

The Final match of the CCIW tournament will be held tomorrow afternoon against the North Central Cardinals (23-2) at 1:00 PM at Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
