KENOSHA, Wis. — The #2 Carthage College men's tennis team knocked out #7 Elmhurst University 5-0 this Thursday afternoon in the opening round of The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship tournament hosted at Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.

#10 ITA Central Region duo Daniel Moore and Yanozie Amadike opened the match in familiar fashion, sweeping court one 8-0 over the visiting team. They pair is now 25-6 overall on doubles court one for the season.

Court two would also go to the Firebirds as Andre Antreassian and Cooper Ferruzzi gained an 8-2 advantage. Nick Marino and Tripp Schulte would close out doubles action on court three with an 8-0 sweep and two wins to go.

Nick Marino delivered the first singles win on court five, toppling his Bluejay opponent 6-0, 6-1. Court six would secure the match for the Firebirds as Andre Antreassian closed 6-1, 6-0 to give Carthage their fifth win and advance the team into the second round of the tournament.

#1 North Central College will take on #4 Augustana College to open round two tomorrow morning at 10 A.M. The Firebirds face off against #5 Wheaton College following the opening match.
