Carthage Women’s Track and Field Lights Up the Track in Sprints and Hurdles

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — A handful of student-athletes from the Carthage women's track and field team set personal bests in their events on Friday evening on day two of the Carius/Gregory Invitational. The sprints highlighted the second day, as the program record book was edited, and Grace Robinson put herself in position to compete the the NCAA National Championship meet. The Firebirds have one more meet on the regular season schedule, as they are set to compete at the Augustana Midwest Twilight on Thursday, May 19 in Rock Island, Ill.
 

Highlights

  • After setting a new PR last weekend at the CCIW Championships in the 100-meter dash, Sarah Kerfrin nearly set another personal-best, clocking a 12.72 second-run.
  • Coming off a CCIW Championship in the 400-meter hurdles, Grace Robinson continued to dominate the event, setting a new PR of 1:02.95 to make her the third-fastest in the event in school history, and moving her into good position to qualify for nationals.
  • The Firebirds impressed on the track in the 200-meter dash, as Teresa Topolski set a new PR with a time of 25.84, making her the ninth-fastest in the event in Carthage history.
  • Kerfin also set a PR in the 200, finishing just behind Topolski with a time of 26.09 seconds.
