RACINE, Wis. — The Carthage college men's tennis team improved to a 19-1 (4-0 conference) record this Friday afternoon after sweeping two dual matches against conference opponents Illinois Wesleyan University (3-8) and Millikin University (10-7). The #10 Firebirds were flawless this afternoon, winning all 18 sets to sweep both visiting teams.

Match 1 - Carthage 9; IWU 0

Senior Tripp Schulte and sophomore Nick Marino opened the match against the Titans with an 8-1 win on the third court in doubles. Cooper Ferruzzi and Andre Antreassian paired up on court two to win 8-3, while the #11 ranked doubles pair Daniel Moore and Yanozie Amadike took court one 8-5 to cap off a 3-0 advantage heading into singles courts.

Chris Mitev and Nick Marino opened singles action with mutual 6-2, 6-1 wins on courts four and three, respectively. Moore claimed court one 6-1, 6-4 and Krzewinski won 6-0, 6-4 on court two. Junior Hayden Friese finished 6-3, 6-1 on court six, before Schulte capped off the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win on the remaining court.

Match 2 - Carthage 9; Millikin 0

Antreassian and Cooper opened up the Firebirds' second match of the day 8-2 on court two, followed by an 8-1 win on court three by Marino and Schulte. Amadike and Moore closed out court one 8-5 to secure the doubles sweep.

Ferruzzi took court four 6-3, 6-1 to open singles, followed by Krzewinski on court three 7-5, 6-1. Amadike won court two 6-2, 6-4 and Mitev claimed court five 6-1, 6-0. Moore won a close 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 set on court one, and Antreassian closed out 6-0, 6-1 to end the match and give Carthage their second sweep of the evening.

The Firebirds are now 4-0 in conference action and will face off against Wisconsin-Lutheran College next Wednesday, April 13th at Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.

The #10 ITA Central Region Carthage men's tennis team rolled past conference opponent Augustana College on the road this Saturday afternoon, winning 8-1 against the Vikings in their second conference dual match of the year.

The Firebirds (17-1) swept doubles 3-0, starting with an 8-7 (7-4) win on court two by Myles Krzewinski and Andre Antreassian. Tripp Schulte and Nick Marino paired up on court three to win 8-4, before #12 ranked doubles partners Daniel Moore and Yanozie Amadike cleaned up 8-7 (8-6) on the final court.

Augustana (2-9) managed to grab a win on court one to begin singles, but the Firebirds quickly bounced back on court five with a 6-3, 6-2 win from Chris Mitev. Amadike took court two 6-2, 6-3 and Krzewinski won court three 6-3, 6-2. Schulte finished 6-1, 6-0 on court six before Marino closed out 7-5, 6-0 on court four to secure the match at 8-1 in favor of the Firebirds.

The Firebirds now have an ideal 2-0 record in conference play, and are set to host Millikin University next Friday, April 8th at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis. if weather permits.
