Women’s Track and Field Improves at Drake Alternate Meet

WHITEWATER, Wis. — The Carthage women's track and field team competed in their final meet before the CCIW Championships next weekend, setting numerous personal bests at the Drake Alternate Meet on the campus of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday.

"We continue to have many strong performances week after week. The Drake Alternative meet was no different and another step in the right direction. The team is ready for the CCIW Championship next weekend and plan to accomplish our goals with a total meet effort."
 

Highlights

  • Sarah Kerfin was flying today, setting a PR in the prelims for the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.94, before further lowering her mark to 12.81 in the semifinals.
  • The 4x100-meter dash team of Maddie Haupert, Teresa Topolski, Grace Robinson, and Kerfin set a season-best in the event with a time of 50.59 seconds.
  • Robinson lowered her PR in the 400-meter hurdles today with a time of 1:04.57, remaining the fourth-fastest in the event in Carthage history.
  • In the 1,500, Kylie Smith lowered her PR to 5:02.78, taking fifth place.
  • In the hammer, Alexis Mattox took fourth place, finishing second among Division III student-athletes, however.
  • Pearl Moss cleared a season-best 1.50 meters in the high jump today, tying for fourth place.
