Carthage Women’s Track Takes Fourth at Don Church Invitational

WHEATON, Ill. — The Carthage women's track and field team took fourth place among 11 competing teams on Saturday at the Don Church Invitational on the campus of Wheaton College. The Firebirds continue to set personal bests and improve as the outdoor season rolls on, with just one more meet on the schedule before the conference championships.

The women's team is set to compete at the Drake Alternate meet at Whitewater next.

Highlights

  • Teresa Topolski set a new PR in the 200-meter dash, taking sixth place overall with a time of 26.11 seconds.
  • Grace Robinson continues to impress in the 400-meter hurdles, taking second today with a time of 1:06.72.
  • Abbey Calhoun PR'd in the pole vault after clearing the bar at 3.20 meters.
  • She then set a second personal best on the day, this time in the long jump, clearing 5.25 meters on her third attempt.
  • Alexis Mattox took second place in the shot put with a throw of 12.58 meters, while Hannah Lizano, Liv Carel, Aubrey Schoeneman, and Alyssa Gulsvig finished just behind her in third through sixth, respectively.
  • Nicole Tarpley won the discus throw with a PR mark of 43.59 meters, setting a PR in the shot out and hammer as well, placing second in the latter.
