Women’s Track and Field Team Continues to Impress Early in Outdoor Season

MILWAUKEE — Taking fourth place as a team among the large field, the Carthage women's track and field team continued their outdoor season at the Warrior Invitational on Thursday. The Firebirds set a handful of personal-bests and continue their strong start to the outdoor season, as they now look toward the Don Church Invitational next Saturday, April 23.
 

Highlights

  • Sarah Kerfin ran a new PR of 12.93 seconds in the 100-meter dash, taking ninth in the prelims.
  • Kylie Smith ran her first collegiate 1,500 today, placing fourth overall with a time of 5:07.58.
  • Coming off a conference student-athlete of the week honor, Grace Robinson won the 400-meter dash today with a time of 1:01.19.
  • In the 200-meter dash, Teresa Topolski set a new personal record with a time of 27.66 seconds.
  • The team of Kerfin, Julie Heinrichs, Topolski, and Robinson took second place in the 4x400-meter relay today with a time of 4:16.99.
  • Alexis Mattox and Dora Dill led the way for the Firebirds in the hammer throw, placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
  • Mattox nearly hit her PR in the shot put from the indoor season, after placing second with a mark of 13.36 meters to place second, while Aubrey Schoenman and Liv Carel took third and fourth, respectively.
  • Nicole Tarpley continued her strong start to the season in the discus, taking third on a throw of 40.33 meters.
  • Abbey Calhoun topped her PR in the triple jump from indoor, leaping 10.84 meters, which ranks her sixth all-time in outdoor in program history.
