RACINE, Wis. — The Carthage men's tennis team defeated the Illinois Institute of Technology Scarlet Hawks 8-1 this afternoon, improving to an impressive 10-1 record for the year so far.

Senior Nicolas Welker and sophomore Cooper Ferruzzi began the match with an 8-3 win on court number three. Senior Daniel Moore and junior Yanozie Amadike followed by claiming court one 8-2, before senior Andre Antreassian and sophomore Myles Krzewinski closed out court three 8-6 to give the Firebirds a 3-0 advantage heading into singles play.

Krzewinski opened singles on court three 6-0, 6-3 before sophomore Nick Marino took court six 6-1, 6-1. Chris Mitev won court four 6-2, 6-1 while Daniel Moore claimed court one 6-3, 6-1 to bring the match to 7-0 Carthage. Court two fell to the Scarlet Hawks, before senior Tripp Schulte won court five 6-3, 6-0 to give the Firebirds the 8-1 victory over the visiting team.

Carthage will head to Orlando, Fla. next week to play four matches over their Spring Break weekday. The first match is against Coe College on Monday, March 14th at 9:00 A.M. ET.
