LAKE BLUFF, Ill. — The Carthage women's tennis team fell 5-4 in a close match against the Lake Forest Foresters this Sunday afternoon.

Giana Apostoli and Sam Ramsey won 8-3 to give the Firebirds (7-8) their first win of the day on court one. Courts two and three fell to the opposing team to give the Foresters a 2-1 advantage heading into singles courts.

Court five fell to the home team before Apostoli picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win on court one. Courts two and three both went to Lake Forest to secure the win for the opposing team. Maddie Kearney won court six 4-6, 6-4, (10-6) and Giovanna Mendes closed out court four 7-5, 1-6, (13-11) to end the match at 5-4 in favor of Lake Forest.

The Firebirds host University of Wisconsin - Lacrosse on Sunday, April 3 at Smeds Tennis Court in Kenosha, Wis.
