ORLANDO, Fla. — The Carthage women's tennis team fell to the Coe College Kohawks 6-3 on the road this Monday afternoon in their first dual match in Orlando, Fla.

The Firebirds opened the match with a 7-6 (2), 6-2 win on court two in doubles courtesy of freshmen duo Giovanna Mendes and Sasha Manojlovic. Courts one and two would fall to the opposing team heading into singles action.

Freshman Maddie Kearney gave Carthage their first singles court on court number six, winning 6-4, 1-6, 7-10. Courts three, five, and one would fall to the Kohawks before Giovanna Mendes closed out the final court of the day 7-6(2), 6-2 to end the match at 3-6.

The Firebirds have three more dual matches yet to play in Orlando, with two more scheduled for this coming Wednesday against Bethel University at 9 AM ET and University of Wisconsin-Superior at 5 PM ET.
