KENOSHA, Wis. — Led by the weight throwing trio of Hannah Lizano, Alexis Mattox, and Olivia Carel, the Carthage women's track and field team sits in a tie for sixth place after day one at the CCIW Conference Championship, which took place on Friday in the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center.

The Firebirds scored 23 total points through six events today, and look to climb the leaderboard on a busy second day tomorrow, beginning at 10:45 a.m.

Head Coach Stephanie Domin

"I am proud of how the team competed tonight as a whole. Hannah Lizano, Alexis Mattox, and Olivia Carel stepped up big in the weight throw to place second, fourth, and seventh. Iliana Milos also stepped up huge in the long jump placing fourth. We have a big day tomorrow and need to bring the same energy and hype we did today."
