Carthage Women's Swim and Dive Takes Third at CCIW Swim Championships

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — The Carthage College women's swim and dive team concluded the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Swimming Championship in third with 590 teams points.

On the final day, Michelle Gorney placed third in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:09.94, while Jordyn Bloode came away with an all-conference third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.06). Elise Merucci took fifth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:17.95.

Elise Merucci won the 2022 CCIW Women's Swimming & Diving RESPECT award for Carthage. At the conclusion of every sports season, each varsity program will recognize one student-athlete as their RESPECT Award honoree. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture.

2022 CCIW All-Conference Swimmers & Divers

All-conference designation is given to student-athletes who finished in the top 3 in individual events and the first place finishers in the relays at the CCIW Championships.
