Women’s Swim and Dive Holds Second After Day One of CCIW Swimming Championships

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — The Carthage College women's swim and dive team concluded day one of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Swimming Championship in second with 206 teams points, 51 points shy of leader Augustana (Ill.) Thursday at RecPlex Aquatic Center. 

Individually, Jordyn Bloode registered a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:06.87), while Maria Gutzweiler took third in the 50-yard freestyle race (24.42). 

Bloode and Gutzweiler swam in the 200-yard freestyle that took fourth with swimmers Izzy Bertaud and Kaitlyn FogoThe team of Bloode, Ashleigh EspinozaGrace Norman, and Gutzweiler took fourth in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:04.19. 

Day two begins on Friday, February 18, with preliminary races starting at 10:30 a.m. 

The all-conference designation is given to student-athletes who finished in the top 3 in individual events and the first-place finishers in the relays at the CCIW Championships.
