2/12/2022 8:24:00 PM

WHITEWATER, Wis. — Competing in a field of some of the best NCAA Division III student-athletes in the country, the Carthage women's track and field team posted a handful of personal-bests in the Kachel Fieldhouse at the Midwest Elite Invitational on Saturday on the campus of UW-Whitewater. The Firebirds continue to post successful results, as they aim for the CCIW Championship meet on the campus of Carthage College. The team placed seventh among nine teams after scoring 17 points.

The Firebirds will compete in the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge next Saturday, February 19, in their final meet before the conference championships.

Head Coach Stephanie Domin

"We faced a lot of tough competition today and had some individuals step up to the challenge. We had multiple personal and season bests. We are looking forward to the next two weeks of training and rest before we host the CCIW Championship."

"Abbey Calhoun has had two great back-to-back meets and we are excited to have her back jumping. Lex Mattox really competed well with some top end throwers and is starting to compete like we know she can. Kylie Smith had a solid race in her second 3K by dropping 14 seconds, and is starting to look more confident on the track."
