ELMHURST, IL. — The Carthage men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Augustana College in the second match of the CCIW Men's Tennis Championship this Friday afternoon. The Firebirds ended their season 9-7 overall, and 5-2 in conference play after defeating Illinois Wesleyan and advancing to the second round of the tournament this past Tuesday.

Kevin Dunn and Cooper Ferruzzi began today's match by winning court two 8-6 over their opponents. Courts one and three would fall to Augustana as Carthage headed into doubles play.

Augustana would take courts four and one in singles action before Chris Mitev rallied for a 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 win on court six to give the Firebirds their only singles win for the evening. The match was ultimately decided on court five as Augie picked up another win to gain the 5-2 advantage for the event and advance into the next round of the tournament.
