KENOSHA, Wis. — In their regular season finale, the Carthage men's tennis team took down Elmhurst 8-1 on Saturday at the Smeds Tennis Center. Today's match marked the end of the regular season for the Firebirds, who finished the year with an 8-6 record in overall play and 5-2 conference record.

Carthage started off the match by sweeping doubles play, beginning with an 8-0 win on court three courtesy of Patrick Anderson and John Nykyforuk. Cooper Ferruzzi and Kevin Dunn followed suit on court two, claiming an 8-1 victory of their own, while the remaining court would be won 8-7 (4) by the duo of Nicolas Welker and Matt Krzewinski.

In singles, Chris Mitev picked up a shutout win at court six, 6-0, 6-0, before Ferruzzi clinched the team win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at court four. At the fifth court, Andre Antreassian defeated his opponent 6-4, 6-4, as Krzewinski followed shortly after with a 6-0, 6-0 win at court three. Welker would pick up the eighth point for the Firebirds with a 6-3, 6-1 match at court two, before the Bluejays ended the match with a win at court one.

Up next for Carthage is the CCIW Tournament, beginning with a Tuesday match on May 4 at 1 p.m., when they take on the sixth seed Illinois Wesleyan after clinching the third seed in the bracket.
