Head Coach Brady Lindsley Picks up 400th Men’s Tennis Win as Carthage Takes Down Millikin

DECATUR, IL. — Carthage men's tennis grabbed a 6-3 win this Friday in their third conference game of the season against Millikin University. The win today improves the Firebird's record to 5-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play, and marks the 400th career win for head coach Brady Lindsley with Carthage men's tennis.

Carthage began the match by sweeping all three courts in doubles play, starting with an 8-4 victory on court one courtesy of Nicolas Welker and Matt Krzewinski. Over on court three, the duo of John Nykyforuk and Andre Antreassian would grab an 8-5 win, before Cooper Ferruzzi and Kevin Dunn would close out court two with an 8-7 (7-4) dub of their own.

Hayden Friese opened up singles play by taking court six 6-0, 6-1. Court five also fell in the Firebird's favor as Andre Antreassian would pick up a 6-3, 6-2 over the home team. Carthage would drop courts 1 - 3, but would finish strong on court four as Chris Mitev cleaned up with a 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 victory to end the match.

Head Coach Brady Lindsley:

"Really proud of our team today. We were down two lineup players today due to Covid protocol, but everyone stepped up and played extremely well."

Today's win marks the 400th career win for coach Lindsley with the men's tennis team since he began coaching in the '97-'98 season. Lindsley also has 340 career wins with the women's tennis team.

The Firebirds head to Bloomington, Illinois tomorrow to take on Illinois Wesleyan University (6-4, 0-2) for their fourth CCIW match of the year.
